For decades after the gold rush, the sternwheelers on the Yukon River were the region’s most important mode of transport. The granddaddy was the SS Klondike II, the largest of the entire fleet. In 1937, the original SS Klondike II sadly sank, but You used its engines, boiler, and other parts to build a new one in 1936.
